Seminar-New Water Rates Ahead!

An Information Session for Foster City Businesses

Date: Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Time: 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Place: Foster City Council Chambers 620 Foster City Blvd., Foster City CA 94404

Beginning this summer, the Estero Municipal Improvement District (EMID) is proposing to change the water utility fee structure and implement "conservation-based water rates," which for some will include a "tiered rate model", and others will include a "water budget-based model". Under a tiered rate system, the unit price for water increases as usage increases. The water budget based model assigns a water budget for each user and evaluates their usage throughout the year. These models are intended to encourage conservation of a limited natural resource in response to a growing demand and shrinking supply. Come hear about the reasons for the change and its potential impact, practical choices you can make to help conserve water and improve your bottom line, and rebates and other resources that can help ease your transition to the new rates. There will be time to ask questions, voice concerns, and provide feedback to the presenters. We look forward to seeing you at the event!

Free Seminar- Financial Strategies for Employees in Transition 2/18

Thursday, February 18 2010, 5:00pm - 7:00pm FREE, Open to the public

Today's headlines are scary. Government bailouts of insurance and mortgage giants, as well as the big three automakers, are all over the news. Companies having to close their doors or layoff their valued employees seems to be a daily occurrence. The stock market has had a dramatic effect on the retirement accounts of baby boomers. This class will review three key areas where employees in transition - whether retiring or recently laid off - can take action upon:

  • Retirement plan options when leaving an employer;
  • Account withdrawal strategies for easing the market pain once in retirement; and
  • Provisions of the stimulus package.

Chamber member Kirsten Weiss from SGC Financial and Insurance Services will be the presenter. This information should not be considered as specific tax/legal advice. You should consult your tax/legal advisor regarding your own specific tax/legal situation. Kirsten Weiss, Financial Advisor. CA Insurance License #: 0G53502.
