Beginning this summer, the Estero Municipal Improvement District (EMID) is proposing to change the water utility fee structure and implement "conservation-based water rates," which for some will include a "tiered rate model", and others will include a "water budget-based model". Under a tiered rate system, the unit price for water increases as usage increases. The water budget based model assigns a water budget for each user and evaluates their usage throughout the year. These models are intended to encourage conservation of a limited natural resource in response to a growing demand and shrinking supply. Come hear about the reasons for the change and its potential impact, practical choices you can make to help conserve water and improve your bottom line, and rebates and other resources that can help ease your transition to the new rates. There will be time to ask questions, voice concerns, and provide feedback to the presenters. We look forward to seeing you at the event!
