It is with great sadness we report the passing of one of Foster City's quiet treasures.

Tokie Onizuka of Tokie's restaurant has passed away last week.

She opened Tokie's Restaurant in Foster City in 1981. Joining her in the restaurant was her son, Victor, who learned sushi from the many chefs that were hired by the restaurant.

Tokie's has always been a gem in Foster City, always under the watchful eye of Tokie herself. Tokie's restaurant has graced the San Francisco Examiner pages for culinary excellence and Victor's skill as a renowned sushi chef has been seen on such programs as the Yan Can Cooking show in 1997 and in Yan Can's cooking school itself. After 24 years, Tokie's Restaurant continues to be the most popular Japanese Restaurant in the Bay Area. When visiting, you can always ask Victor about his latest creation. And Tokie could always be seen walking from table to table.

Tokie will be missed, but her dreams, her passion and her spirit will continue on in the Restaurant she loved so dearly and bears her name. Our condolences and special thoughts to the family and employees of Tokies.

Motown Mixer FRIDAY Feb 26 5:30-7PM

Please Join the Chamber and Pam Warren of Piccadilly Catering and Restaurant for a Happy Hour and Motown mixer! The Feb 26th mixer is a launch of their happy hour and to let people know about their lunch service.  They are doing a Motown Music theme at the Happy hour featuring a live DJ. SAVE OUR SERVICES PETITION DRIVE

Join the campaign to qualify and pass the Local Taxpayer, Public Safety, and Transportation Protection Act for this November's ballot. LIONS CLUB 10TH ANNUAL CRAB FEED -
THIS SATURDAY

The Lions Club and Foster City Pony Colts will be holding their 10th annual All You Can Eat Crab Feed, Raffle & Dance this Saturday, February 27th at 6:00pm at the Foster City Recreation Center.

The cost is $37.50 per person, in advance, no tickets will be sold at the door.

Tickets are available at the Chamber office 573-7600 or Carolyn Cox 377-0247.

An alternate meal of Steak or Chicken may be requested in advance only.

FOSTER CITY ARTS & WINE FESTIVAL -
RESIDENT ARTISTS EXHIBITION - JUNE 5 & 6, 2010

Call for entries! Artists of all mediums, including sculpture and photography, are welcome  to participate. Foster City residents and employees are invited. Art pieces must be completed within the last 2 years. Entry deadline , May 20, 2020. Entry forms are available at the Foster City Chamber of Commerce, 1031 E Hillsdale Blvd, # F. This is an excellent opportunity for local artists to show their individual artistic talents.
